Date Selection Module 1: Personal & Feng Shui Date Selection (October 3rd & 4th)
An ancient metaphysical science that predates more than 2,500 years of Chinese history, Date Selection is all about doing the right thing, at the right time. Given that time is a premium that few if any can afford to waste today, Date Selection has expanded in application and importance to encapsulate activities ranging from surgical procedures to the signing of business contracts.
And once the students had taken their seats, they were promptly inducted into the various, diverse usages of Date Selection; which encompass both personal and professional endeavors. Also known in Chinese as `Ze Ri (lit. Selecting Days), Date Selection is perhaps the only tool within the repertoire of Chinese Metaphysics knowledge, capable of directly affecting ones Heaven Luckand therefore altering ones Destiny to a rather significant extent; as Joey explained to his students.
Having done with this brisk introduction, Joey proceeded to guide course participants into the technical aspects of Date Selection, such as Year, Month and Day Star Systems. He paused to emphasize that although there are many Schools of Date Selection - each with its own unique strengths and weaknesses it was equally important to understand WHY, WHAT and HOW a particular system is applied, if one wishes to be a consummate master in the field of Date Selection. Students were then shown how to juxtapose the Year, Month and Day Star Systems with their respective dates of birth. While Date Selection, BaZi (Chinese Astrology) and Feng Shui do share common grounds, Ze Ris greatest strength lies in its versatility in allowing us to tap into the Qi (energies) of positive stars in the cosmos at specific points in time thereby infusing a particular activity with the right energies to maximize its chances of success!
As the course progressed along, participants learnt that the trick of powerful Date Selection application did not just lie in selecting good dates, but more importantly, good dates that would produce the desired outcomes for an intended individual. Using real-life examples, Joey emphasized his point with this amusing anecdote: If you wish to induce Peach Blossom (Romance) Luck for a single person in your household, surely you also wouldnt want to choose a date on which every resident within the property would fall head over heels in love, regardless of their marital statuswould you? Needless to say, all ears and eyes were trained on Joey, as he proceeded to share with his students the techniques involved in matching the Qi on a particular date to the entire BaZi of a personthereby personalizing every aspect of the date demonstrated. The gist of this lies in the principle that each pillar of a BaZi Chart reacts and responds differently to a selected dates Qi, with a different outcome to each reaction!
To keep the students on their toes and ensure that they benefited fully from the course, different case studies were shared and discussed throughout the duration of the course. Questions were posed, and answers suggested by everyone in the classroom, before Joey affirmed or corrected any misconceptions that he noted.
The purpose of Module 1 was to introduce students to the MOST important concept in ANY school of Date Selection; namely, the actual stars in the cosmic paths and around the Earths orbit. Why? Because these stars govern the Qi prevalent on any given date, and without knowledge or understanding of this core concept, none of the Xuan Kong Da Gua Date Selection or Qi Men Date Selection methods would work! Joey concluded this introductory Module by explaining to participants that Xuan Kong Da Gua Date Selection is merely confined to Hexagram formations without reference to the actual stars in the cosmos. And if that were the case, then there would be no real Qi to be harnessed or tapped into, as a Gua is just an imagewhereas a star represents a body of Qi!
So it was indeed heartening to hear one of the participants, Sherwin Ng, opine as Module 1 drew to a close: I got just what I came forthe knowledge to select the right stars for a certain activity, undertaken by a particular person.
Date Selection Module 2: Xuan Kong Da Gua Date Selection (October 5th & 6th)
All who attended the preceding Module 1 stayed on for Module 2and if they thought the introductory Module to be mind-blowing, then they were certainly in for more, as Joey strode into the classroom to commence Module 2 Xuan Kong Da Gua Date Selection.
This time, it was all about `fine-tuning dates to suit different sorts of activities or endeavors, as well as different individuals. Given that the BaZi of each person is unique, it only makes sense for Date Selection to serve as a tool in tailoring specific periods in time, when the energies of the day are most suitable to bring about optimal benefits to the person undertaking a particular activity.
As Joey shared more highly-technical details such as Combinations, Clashes and how the 64 Hexagrams relate to Ze Ri, he equally made it a point to emphasize their effects on the various facets of life; namely ones relationship, health, wealth and career prospects. And indeed, as the students discovered to their amazement, Xuan Kong Da Gua Date Selection is powerful and versatile enough a science, so as to influence the outcome of an endeavor undertaken to produce either direct or indirect wealth!
Nevertheless, as the course progressed along, participants discovered that Xuan Kong Da Gua Date Selection is not merely about finding `special structures such as Yi Gua Chun Qing (Pure Gua), He Tu Formations or Combos of Tens, but more importantly, it functions as a tool in bringing about the effects of a desired Hexagram to life thereby creating a specific desired outcomes, from a selected date. As Joey put it; special structures represent only the patterns of a dateno more, no less.
With the understanding that `Xuan Kong Da Gua Date Selection is the art of harnessing the Hexagram along with the actual Auxiliary Stars (present in the Cosmic Path) of the day to help bring about a desired outcome or mitigate an adverse situation firmly imbedded in the students minds, they also learnt that certain people will neither benefit nor be harmed by Out-of-Gua dates. At this juncture, Joey elaborated upon the significance of the Hexagram meanings, before showing all present how to activate the Hexagrams; duly noting to his students that this is considered to be a superior technique, even amongst the most skillful Xuan Kong Date Selection specialists. He then capped-off this part of Module 2, by explaining the huge difference between using the Xuan Kong Element of a Date, and the Xuan Kong Luck Period of a Date telling his students that this difference could well make the difference between `make or break in a Feng Shui setup, especially when external (Luan Tou) forms are factored into the calculations. To illustrate his point, a demonstration of how Xuan Kong Flying Stars are assessed - from the Xuan Kong Da Gua Date Selection perspective - as well as how to activate the Flying Stars effectively, followed suit.
Next up were the usual case studies; presented for discussion and analyses (only that the extent of such analyses was much more detailed in this Module). Participants soon learnt that with the requisite amount of mastery, one is even capable of selecting dates that are generally perceived to be `inauspicious, and use them to bring about positive outcomes for certain activities. Now, hows that for a technique of inversion?
Everyone was in for a pleasant bonus, as Joey shared with them the Xuan Kong Da Gua Five Ghosts Carry Treasure Date Selection (phew!) techniqueoften considered to be `top secret, even amongst Date Selection and Feng Shui practitioners! However, Joey reiterated that Xuan Kong Da Gua Date Selection would only work, when the Auxiliary (actual) Stars are considered in tandem with ones personal BaZi. A beginner or novice practitioner would only take a persons Year Pillar as a reference point. But a seasoned or skilled practitioner would incorporate the entire BaZi of the individual, when considering Xuan Kong Da Gua Date Selection, he quipped.
Hence, Xuan Kong Da Gua Date Selection is more than just about `door alignments or `a Houses Sitting Gua. Indeed, its versatility extends to the usage of the Hexagrams, based on both sectional and Palace Groups. In other words, Module 2 AKA Xuan Kong Da Gua Date Selection looked way beyond mere `good structuresinto practical, results-oriented date selection techniques. And as could be well expected, there was no shortage of practical in-class date selecting sessions, which provided participants with a platform to air their views, and have them confirmed or corrected accordingly by Joey.
All too soon, the 2-day Module 2 came to an end, but not before most if not all of Joeys students took the opportunity to approach him, to have their questions answered. And certainly, all who departed from the classroom had Joeys parting words ringing in their ears: Use what youve learnt wellto unleash the power of good dates for your benefit, and the benefit of your friends and loved ones!
