Feng Shui is a metaphysical science where one learns to recognize and tap into the Qi of the living environment to help with endeavours in life. It is about harnessing positive Qi (Sheng Qi) and avoiding negative ones (Sha Qi).
In the case of external Feng Shui, it is best to know the common types of environmental features that could be of significance to the Qi flow of your property. Why? The reason being that these features can 'bother' you because they either obstruct the flow of Qi to your property or emanate negative Qi by virtue of their shape or placement in relation to your property.
These are seven of the more typical environmental features that can be found in urban neighborhoods around the world:
Hydrants
Usually not the first thing one would look out for, but you need to take note of this as it is not something that can be removed. If the hydrant is not smack in front of the Main Door of the property, it is fine. The same goes for a commercial lot as well.
Pylons
In Feng Shui, pylons are regarded as a sharp negative object, which means it exerts an extremely negative impact if it is located directly in front of the Main Door. A pylon located within a 100 feet radius of the property is usually a problem too. Obviously, pylons are impossible to move and so, best to avoid it altogether. Otherwise, a strategic location of water can help reduce - not eliminate - the impact of the pylon (fire element) during certain years.
Crack between Buildings
"Crack" here refers to a gap between two buildings that are located very close together. When the wind blows through the gaps, it is focused and becomes sharp and piercing, creating very fierce Sha Qi. If this gap points right at your property, whichever sector it hits, will usually result in illness or injury of its occupants associated with that Trigram.
Curved Flyover
Known as the Crescent Blade Sha, this Sha is very intense and highly negative. Also another near-impossible-to-fix feature, it is advisable to avoid choosing a property near this curve - especially at the receiving end of it. If your property is located away from the curve but within proximity of a flyover, then it is fine. Still, best to avoid it to be safe.
Peeping Tom Sha
As the name suggests, this formation refers to a mountain that peeps out from behind another mountain. In the modern urban environment, this feature does exist in the form of the neighboring roof peeking from behind another. Avoid this as it denotes the occupants of the property will experience robbery, theft, fraud and embezzlement.
White Tiger Sha
The term "White Tiger" refers to the right side of the property looking out from the door. This Sha is present only when there is a negative environmental feature on the right side of the property. It is especially strong Sha if the environmental feature is a sharp object like pylon or sharp roof. "White Tiger" also relates to female matters and power. Thus, this will cause the women in the house to feel emotional, behave irrationally and causing problems for the household and family.
White Tiger Opening Mouth Formation
This formation is present when there is a large arch or a sharp object within the arch that is present on the right side of the property when looking out from the Main Door. It denotes widows in the home or disputes between the women of the house and domestic problems for the man of the house.
Keep this in mind when you are out hunting for a property. Avoiding these environmental features will ensure nothing negative will 'bother' you or your family when you settle in your dream home.
