A door is just a door. Or is it? Don not be supprised, but the entrance to your home plays a very big role as it affects Qi flow of the entire house.
Put the Qi where the mouth' is
Many homeowners don't pay enough attention to their Main Doors. According to them, the entrance is just the doorway to access their home and welcome guests; so why the heavy emphasis on the door? In this context, many of them failed to realize that the entrance also acts as the main entry point or "The Mouth of Qi" for their home.
To venture deeper, Qi tends to be very specific and critical about the way it's welcomed to your home. But, let's not crack your head here. As one homeowner to another, here are a few tests to ensure your entrance doesn't negatively or adversely affect the flow of Qi to your home.
Looking In
Take this test: stand outside your Main Door and look in. If you happen to spot a door to a toilet to another room directly from that position, it's not a favorable setting for you. Qi that flows in will be directed into those rooms, cutting off its circulation to the entire house. Another aspect also begs for your attention: the corner of the walls or stairs situated directly in front of the Main Door. This could lead to a clashing of Qi from inside and outside, making the entrance not a favorable one for Qi. Mirrors facing the Main Door, on the contrary to popular belief, are perfectly alright and do not have any effect whatsoever on the Qi flow.
Looking Out
Try standing inside your house and look out from the entrance. If you happen to see any objects like lamp posts or pillars obstructing the view from your Main Door, then it could spell Bad Qi for you. These features block the flow of Qi to your home and could cause the negative Piercing Heart Sha to your property.
In that same position, try to observe any alley or T-junction leading directly to your entrance. Pay 100% attention to these features as they're very negative to your property. They'll cause catastrophic damage to your Qi and should be avoided at all costs.
Illuminate the darkness
Now, try this final test on "brightness" of your entrance.
If possible, attempt to eliminate any obvious foliage of thick trees from shading your entrance. Shades will prevent sunlight from reaching your entrance, creating the negative Yin Sha. Another important point: when you enter your Main Door, do you feel damp, dark, or gloomy? This indicates a potential overwhelming of Yin Qi in that area of your house. It's best to avoid properties with these unfortunate features to deter any unwanted incidents from occurring.
All in all, the importance of your property's entrance cannot be stressed enough. Together with your Bedroom and Kitchen, it forms the Three Important Factors one must consider when assessing the Feng Shui of one's property.
